Denis Murphy’s
Slide in D
May is Slide Month!
I have been backing this tune for years but for some reason learning the melody has been a challenge. My fingers just want to throw in extra As where there should be Gs and Bs where there should be As. It took a few days of practice, but I finally managed to scrape together a few mandolin tracks without too many obvious missteps.
This is often the first tune played in a set of 3 or 4 slides, and the dance rhythm in 12/8 time can really get your toes tapping.
Two mandolin parts on melody with simple I-IV-V bouzouki accompaniment.
