Drops of Brandy

Slip Jig in G

This is a lovely little tune that can be played in a number of different keys depending on where you are. You might run into a fiddler who plays this in A or a group that learned it in D. It’s a simple tune that is easy to transpose. Played here in G on the mandolin and bouzouki.

There is an accidental in the first and third phrases of the A part, which begins D-C#-D. Alternatively you could play the first note as a quarter and skip the C#. In the recording below I play the C# the first time through and leave it out on the second.

The B part follows a simple arpeggio of the G major chord. The pattern is the same as the A part with the last phrase matching in both parts.
