Slide in A-dor

May is Slide Month!

This was a tricky one to nail down on the mandolin. When I pick, I generally mimic the action of the bow on a fiddle. This means on longer slurs the mandolin loses a lot of volume since you’re not picking the string on each note.

This was fun to record, and listening back to spaces where there is a noticeable drop in volume from a longer string of hammer-ons and pull-offs has shed a new light for me on how I pick notes.
