The Sally Gardens
Reel in G
For a long time I had a hard time deciding how I wanted to back this tune as an accompanist. Finally learning the melody has been a huge help in figuring out how to create a meaningful backing track, throwing in a few minor vi chords to spice up the major I, IV, and V chords.
Reels tend to feel like they have quite a lot more notes than other tunes, and I think that comes down to driving dance rhythm. This was recorded a little faster than my practice tunes last week, and I play through it only twice. Still, the track is nearly as long as the last few tunes which were played each three times through.
Two mandolin parts on melody with bouzouki accompaniment.
