The Lonely Jig
Jig in B minor
A bonus tune this week
This is an original composition I wrote last Sunday. When I pick up the mandolin to practice I often begin by running up and down a few scales, improvising a few phrases as a warm-up. Occasionally I have the thought that “Hey, that would sound good in a tune,” but I never write them down or record them.
This is the first time I’ve taken a few of those warm-up phrases and put them together to compose an entire tune. This jig starts and resolves in B-minor with a brief shift to D-major for the B part.
